Why this?

When we talk about the IoT, a reflex that our brains often make is to think of it as a technology or something that is very technology related. Ideas of Things wants to offer another view on this, the view that starts from society.

All people involved in this initiative have been working independently from each other on tools, workshop formats and methods to approach the design and creation of IoT in way that is not dominated by technology. Instead of sticking to our own practices, we decided it made more sense to put our heads together and focus on how we can complement each other's work.

Over the years, we have collaborated on a couple of workshops for IoT design. What we noticed is that through our loose collaboration, we constantly question the tools and methods we use.

In the end, our goal is to collect design tools that can move us forward. We are not in this to construct 'one method to rule them all' but very much believe that it comes down to being able to build bridges between existing tools.
